Accra Open Junior Tennis League Commences

The maiden edition of the Accra Open Juniors League began last weekend at the National Tennis Center, Accra. The 8 weeks juniors league is sposored by Tennis enthusiat Amoako Boafo.

8 clubs across the country are participating in the league. The event features three categories-boys under 9, 10 and 11. 


 A statement from the tournament organizer Albert Annan said the tournament would aim to provide the platform that would attract and identify and develop junior tennis talent across the nation to become professional players. 

According to assistant National Head Coach Henry Quansah who his brain behind this initiative said, the multiple age group model will help to install a smooth transition from one age group to the other and then to the professional ranks.

At the end of the first round, matches, Tesano Tennis Club headed by Coach Charles Tetteh side defeated Coach Joshua Nunoo's Stadium A Tennis Club 2-1. 

St Francis Tennis Club from Ashaiman headed by head coach Francis Mainoo showed why they are a force to be reckoned with in junior tennis competition as they outplayed Coach Seth's team of Stadium B Tennis Club 2-0.

Korle-Bu tennis club Coach Kofi Inkoom led his squad to pick up their first win against Coach Aaron Atitsogbe's Stadium C Tennis Club 2-1. 

Winneba Tennis Club announced their presence with a 2-0 triumph over the Ghana Tennis Club team led by Coach Theophilus Kwei-Nortey.
