Diamond Racquets bounce back from a slow start

The Diamond Racquets picked up a massive three points win against Seychelles in their second group game in the ongoing Billie Jean King Cup after overcoming a sluggish start, losing to Zimbabwe in the opening game.

The team won 3-0 with no.2 seed Elizabeth Kapari Bagerbaseh winning 6-0, 6-0 against Ashaelle Bastienne. No.1 seed Sisu Tomegah also outwitted Marie-May Isnard 6-0, 6-1. In the doubles' event, No.3 and No.4 Annette Cruickshank and Yvonne Bruce Tagoe paired to win 6-2, 6-2 against Marie-May Isnard and Zenab Kante

Speaking to ghanatennis.org Head coach Richard Ayi Dartey via zoom said," in our first game against Zimbabwe we lost because of the weather, my girls were not used to this climatic condition, for Seychelles we are better than them in tennis and I also to give credit to my players for such performance".

Diamond Racquets are 4th on the league log with 3 points. Tunisia lead the Pool B table with 6 points, followed by Zimbabwe with also 6 points. Third on the table is Mauritius with 3 points, then Ghana. Fifth on the table is Burundi and Seychelles who are bottom of the table.

Ghana will play Mauritius on Wednesday the 14th Junes 2023 and Coach Ayi Dartey said, I know it won't be easy because they lost their first and then won against Burundi. It is very tough, but we have a game plan to outwit them.
