Tarkwa based Lisel Ampah fulfilled her potential by landing her first professional title with a win over Lawrencia Aghoghorbia in the 2023 Mansa Gold Professional Ladies Tournament.

Lisel, 12, clinched a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club.

“I feel like I'm in shock at the moment,” Lisel said. ‘’I never knew I would have my hands on the ultimate trophy, my target was the quarterfinals, but after winning my quarterfinals game, I felt with a little push I could win the ultimate trophy and I did.  I stayed focused and the strategy my coach taught me helped a lot. I will continue to train very hard for the next tournament.’’

Tournament sponsor, Preba Greenstreet who doubles as the CEO of Mansa Gold, said she was impressed with this year’s event, especially about Lisel Ampah winning the tournament.

‘’I know how tough it is to win a tennis match because I am a player myself. To win all these matches and lift the ultimate trophy shows how prepared Lisel has been for the tournament.  “You could see that this year's event attracted players from across the country, and we will put things in place so that during the 2025 edition we will accommodate players coming from outside Accra.’’ Madam Preba Greenstreet added.

This year’s Mansa Gold Professionals Ladies tournament was supported by Bamless.
