Blessing Sewornu wins WhitRay  Junior Tennis Open

Blessing Sewornu of Tennis Foundation Ghana took home the boys 12 and under  title after defeating Solomon Dowuona in the third edition of the Whitray Junior Open at the National Tennis Center in Accra.

The 4-day event showcased exceptional talent, commitment, and competitiveness.

Solomon began the finals on a high note after taking the first set 6-3. However, the second set saw a significant shift as Blessing adapted to Solomon's play to win 6-1. In the final set, Blessing maintained her style and strength, securing a 10-7 super tiebreak victory after a single break.The girls' 12-and-under category saw Tennis Foundation Academy star Grace Tetteh emerge victorious, defeating Whitney Orimoloye 6-4, 6-2.
 

The boys' 14-and-under category featured a thrilling clash, with Osu-based Jefter proving superior to Joseph Tetteh, winning 3-6, 6-1, 11-9. In the girls' category, Naira Sangari defeated her sister Rene Akati 6-1, 6-4.

Effah Richard made his Tema community proud by winning the boys' 16-and-under category against PM Sports Foundation star Jeff Frimpong 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
 

Tennis Foundation Ghana secured another victory, with Philipina Sewuonu outperforming her peers to claim the ultimate trophy in the girls' 16-and-under category. 

Speaking ghanatennis.org Orimoloye Abiodun, CEO of ATL Global Transport and Logistics, expressed his excitement about the tournament’s success, praising the “fantastic” level of performance and noting that Ghana’s tennis future looks bright. He emphasized the need for support, urging individuals and parents to come on board and provide more opportunities for these young players.
