Golden Rackets ready for Davis Cup Showdown

Ghana's National tennis team- The Golden Rackets, met with the Ghana Tennis Federation's President- Isaac Aboagye Duah, members of the GTF board ( Dr. Emmanuel Adu Sarkodie, Ismaila Lamptey, Jesse Ato Desbordes, Henry Boni, Samuel Sayibu and Cedric Dzelu) and Sports Writer Association of Ghana's (SWAG) Kwabena Yeboah to announce their readiness for this year's Davis Cup.
 
The team had dinner which was put together by GTF board member Dr. Emmanuel Adu Sarkodie who doubles as the coordinator and sponsor of the team. The team will leave Ghana on Friday for the Africa Zone IV Davis Cup in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Scheduled from 25th July to 30th July 2022. 
 
Phoenix insurance sponsored the team's kit.  
 
The team comprises USA based Isaac Nortey and three locals players Samuel Osei Agbesi Antwi, Johnson Acquah and Reginald Okantey led by Captain Frederick Egyir.


 
Ghana will be competing against host nation Cameroon, Nigeria, Gabon, Senegal, Burundi, Ethiopia, and Mauritius for a place at the 2022 World Group III Play-offs.
 
Speaking at the event, Dr Emmanuel Adu Sarkodie said, 'we have the very best team to ensure qualification, we want to lift tennis to where it used to be, it's our sincere hope that, this process we have begun will continue. We are hoping to bring Ghana some success and build a formidable team that can be used for next All Africa Games which will be hosted in Ghana'. 
 
President of Ghana Tennis Federation Isaac Aboagye Duah also said, 'I want to thank our sponsor who is an executive board member of the federation Dr. Emmanuel Adu Sarkodie for the support. 'I urge you to go out there to rise the flag of Ghana high we have a lot of trust in our coach Frederick Egyir'.
