Tennis Foundation Ghana joins forces with UTR to help Ghanian players.

In keeping with their promise to help develop Ghana Tennis, Tennis Foundation Ghana has joined forces with the Tennis Digital Platform giant, Universal Tennis Rating Inc.

Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) is a global tennis player rating system intended to produce an objective, consistent, and accurate index of players' skill in tennis. UTR rates all players on a single 16-point scale, without regard to age, gender, nationality, or location of a given match. All professional players in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) have UTRs, as do most college players and many junior tournament players worldwide, as well as many adult league and tournament players. The UTR database includes results from more than 8 million matches and 200+ countries. More than 800,000 players have UTRs.

Players, coaches, tournament directors, tennis clubs can use UTR for selecting players and seeding in tournaments thereby eliminating the subjective task of Tournament Directors placing players in a draw. UTR is also the official rating system of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) which runs College Tennis in the USA.  In January 2018, the Tennis Channel announced its partnership with UTR, making the rating system part of the Tennis Channel's coverage of events.

TFG President Mr. Roger Crawford said he is excited for the partnership as it will give Ghanaian players much needed exposure without leaving the country. He encouraged all Tournament Organizers, Coaches and clubs to sign on to the TFG Digital Club so they can have full use of the platform. TFG Director of Tennis Operations, Mr. Yakubu Lea said all of the upcoming TFG National Junior Championships in March will be on the UTR Platform and encouraged Coaches and parents to sign their players.
