Sakumono Tennis Club (STC) celebrated its 20th Anniversary over the weekend at its clubhouse. The anniversary was officially launched on Saturday the 3rd August 2024 and was highlighted by a ladies' day event which was in partnership with Tennis Chic.
Speaking to ghanatennis.org Dr. Stephen Babson said, we are here to celebrate 20 years of tennis at Sakumono tennis club, we celebrate our ladies who are an integral part of our sports, we here today to reunite with all our members, and we are here to celebrate the achievements of Sakumono tennis club so far.
Some exciting matches took place during the celebration as Tina and Hajia won 6-1 against Naa Jazzy. Ama and Faiza also announced themselves with a 7-6(5) win over their opponent Rukky and Aba. Emily and Sedinam proved their superiority against the opponent (Etorman and Ayisha) as the pair (Emily and Sedinam) won 6-1. In the Mixed-doubles, Akorkor combined beautifully with David to beat her sister Akweley and partner Albert 4-2. Vicky paired with Morris to win 4-3 against Desmond and Lisha. Fati Joe and his partner Rukky outwitted their opponents - Jude and Josephine 4-1.
In other Mixed-doubles games, Coach of Regional Maritime tennis club Ablorh and his partner Emily won 4-1 against Akyena and Abigail. Tina and Bug Godwin also defeated Baroni and Magda 4-1. Ghana Tennis Federation’s Official photographer- Bernard Nii Bortey made an appearance as he partnered Lida Sedinam of Ho tennis club to oust former Winneba Sports College star George Nyarko and Akosua in a game that ended 6-4.
