Samuel Nyamekye, Naa Mckorley win Donkor Tennis Education Foundation Annual Tennis Tournament

Sakumono Samuel Nyamekye and Naa Mckorley last Saturday, justified their reputation as the top ranked players by claiming honors in the boys' and girls' division respectively at the just ended Donkor Tennis and Education Foundation annual tennis event at Ayi-Mensah, Accra. 
 
Nyamekye had earlier on, defeated Bright Nortey 8-3 in the round of 16. Emmanuel Antwi 5-4(3) 4-2 in the quarterfinals. Nyamelye ousts Desmond Ayaaba 4-1, 5-4(9) in the semifinals before finishing Kenneth Adjokatse 6-3, 6-4. Both players( Nyamekye and Kenneth Adjokatse) displayed beautiful tennis skills for the fans and dignitaries gathered.
 
After his win, Nyamekye said "My victory was the result of hard work and perseverance". He added that "It was not an easy game, especially when you are playing away from home in a final".

In the girls' final, Naa Mckorley defeated Tracy Ampah 6-4,3-6,7-5. Naa Mckorley told ghanatennis.org that,  "I am happy to come out a winner.
 
Former National tennis star who doubles as the President Donkor Tennis and Education Foundation Isaac Donkor said, on behalf of the Donkor Foundation we want to thank, the coaches (Yhaya Macculey, Joseph Doe Adjani, Jojo Abban and Richard Ayi Dartey) and the players for honoring our invitation to participate in the three- day invite. We are blessed with a lot of talents but the problem our junior players lose concentration and focus during matches".  


 
This is just the beginning, for my foundation, we will soon put up classrooms for the kids so they can study after playing, I can assure that, these tournaments have come to stay. This year we have added Ashanti region and next year will add two more regions. Am very grateful to Jones Family in the US, O'Connor family, my wife (Michelle Donkor) and the board of directors of Donkor Tennis and Education Foundation for their tremendous support.' He stressed.


 
President of Ghana Tennis Federation Isaac Aboagye also said, we want to thank  the Donkor Foundation for giving back to Ghana tennis, Ghana Tennis Federation works with foundations and Donkor Foundation is one of the foundations developing the game of tennis. Hope this collaboration between the Federation and Donkor Tennis and Education Foundation will improve.

Dignitaries present were: Ghana Tennis Federation President Isaac Aboagye Duah, ITF level 2 Coach Richard Ayi Dartey and William Ampah.
