Nigeria’s Daniel Adeleye powered to victory over his fellow compatriot Prosper Okonkwo to retain the Tennis Foundation Ghana Open ITF J60 Accra boy’s singles title at the national tennis center, Accra.
Prosper appeared mostly helpless against inform Daniel Adeleye who won 6-4,6-1 in one hour and 15 mins.
Speaking to ghanatennis.org, Daniel said, it’s a dream come true for me to win this trophy for the second time. Ghana is my second home and love the people and I have won most of my ITF junior titles here.’
In the girl's singles final,Lamis was better composed than India’s Diya Chaudhary winning 6-4,4-6,6-2. Lamiss Houas becomes the second player to stop Diya Chaudhary after Alisha Ndukwu did it in week 3.
A double fault by Lamiss put Diya on the verge of winning the first set, but the tournament No. 2 saved two set points to force for a break points to lead 5-4 before winning 6-4. Diya bounced back in the second set, cruising to 6-4 as Lamiss only managed to score half of her service points.
In the final set, Diya went 4-2 up in the third set but persisted through long rallies, getting the better of an exhausted Diya on the fourth break point to make it 4-2.
Lamiss with more slice in her game broke Diya to lead 5-2. Maintain her firmed stand and the on her serve to win 6-4,4-6,6-2 .
In the girls' doubles game, Lamiss Houas won the doubles title after partnering Zimbabwe’s Sasha Natalie Chemidze to beat Ghana’s Sisu-Makena Tomegah and Madagascar’s Iriela Rajaobelina 6-2,6-2.
Great Britain’s Henry Beer partnered Morocco’s Semi Hayes won the Tennis Foundation Ghana Open ITF J60 title beating Ghanaian duo Raphael Nii Ankrah and kwame Obeng Entie 6-3,6-2..
