The courts of the Accra Sports Stadium came alive from November 3 to 7, as Ghana’s top players battled it out in the 2025 Tennis Professionals of Ghana (TPG) National Ranking Tour 5.
It was a week of passion, precision, and pure tennis brilliance — with new champions rising and familiar names reminding fans why Ghana’s tennis future looks so bright.

After coming close earlier in the year, Lameck Bagerbaseh (UTR 11) finally had his moment.
His campaign began with a dramatic first-round thriller against Hanif Boateng, a three-set test of nerves and endurance that ended 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 6-3.
From there, Lameck found his rhythm — overpowering Giovanni Adinyira 6-1, 6-0 and dispatching long-time rival Raphael Nii Ankrah 6-4, 6-2 in the quarters.

In the semifinals, controversy struck when opponent Johnson Acquah retired following an on-court disagreement, handing Lameck a spot in the finals.
There, he faced Samuel Nyamekye — and rose to the occasion.
Lameck played with precision and confidence, edging the first set 6-4 before dominating the second 6-0 to seal his maiden TPG National Ranking Men’s Singles title.

This win lifts Lameck to 13th in the national rankings, marking a career-best moment for the rising Ghanaian star.

In the women’s draw, the story of the week was the comeback of Yvonne Bruce-Tagoe (UTR 6).
After more than two years away from the national circuit, Yvonne returned stronger than ever, breezing past Rachael Tagoe 6-0, 6-0 in her opener.

She survived a fierce challenge from Georgette Naa Shormey in the quarterfinals, edging a first-set tiebreak 7-6(6) before shutting the door 6-0 in the second.
From there, she barely looked back — crushing Vera Narh 6-1, 6-0 in the semis and overpowering Lawrencia Aghoghorbia 6-4, 6-0 in the final.

It was a masterclass in focus and determination — a performance that announced Yvonne’s triumphant return to Ghanaian tennis.

Inclusivity once again took center stage as the TPG continued to integrate wheelchair tennis into its national ranking events.
Reigning champion Bernard Yawson, Ghana’s No. 1 wheelchair athlete, defended his title in style.

He opened with a solid 6-2, 6-0 win over Bridget Nartey, battled through a tough three-setter against Abdul Razak Nuhu (6-1, 6-7(4), 6-2), and triumphed in the final over former No. 1 Mclean Atsu Dzidzenyo, 7-5, 6-1.
Bernard’s victory not only extends his dominance but also highlights the growing strength of Ghana’s wheelchair tennis community.

With Tour 5 wrapped up, attention now turns to TPG Tour 6, kicking off Monday, November 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The qualifiers are complete, the draws are set, and anticipation is high for another thrilling week of Ghanaian tennis.
