The 2025 Invitational Interplast Masters Championship concluded with Acquah and Tomegah emerging as champions, delivering standout performances throughout the tournament. Their victories highlighted skill, consistency, and competitive spirit, capping off a successful championship event.

The competition began with 16 men and 8 women battling through a highly competitive group stage at the prestigious Accra Lawn Tennis Club, setting the tone for an exciting championship. From the outset, eventual champions Acquah and Tomegah asserted their dominance, bulldozing their way to the top of their respective groups with commanding performances, each winning all three of their group-stage matches. Acquah was especially impressive, displaying focus, control, and ruthless efficiency as he powered through the group stage without dropping a single set. Their consistency and composure not only separated them from the rest of the field but also firmly established them as title favorites heading into the knockout rounds.

The knockout rounds began with a bang, with Osu heavily represented in the opening quarterfinal clash featuring Ghana’s No. 1 men’s player, Johnson Acquah, against the nation’s U18 No. 1, Raphael Dowuona. Acquah asserted his authority early, snatching a tightly contested first set 7–5 with dominant attacking play. The momentum clearly shifted in favour of the top seed as he raced to a 5–0 lead in the second set, after which Dowuona was forced to retire due to injury.

Samuel Nyamekye made a determined statement of intent, dispatching Japhet Bagerbaseh in straight sets, 6–3, 6–1. Desmond Ayaaba also advanced confidently with a solid 6–4, 6–1 victory over Isaac Titriku. In one of the most thrilling encounters of the round, the experienced Reginald Okantey overturned a one-set deficit to defeat top-ranked U21 player Lameck Bagerbaseh, 4–6, 7–6(10), 6–4, showcasing grit and composure to book his place in the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Acquah once again demonstrated his championship pedigree, battling back from a set down against Nyamekye before securing victory following Nyamekye’s retirement in the deciding set, 4–6, 6–4, 1–0 (rtd). Okantey was equally clinical, quickly dismissing Desmond Ayaaba in a match that ended 6–4, 4–2 (rtd) after Ayaaba was forced to retire.

The women’s semifinals delivered equally compelling performances. Tracy Ampah advanced to the final with a composed straight-sets victory over Precious Nunana Okoh, 6–3, 6–3. Sisu Tomegah was in dominant form against Annette Cruickshank, whose campaign ended due to injury in the second set, with Tomegah leading 6–3, 3–0 (rtd).

Anticipation reached its peak as the finals lived up to expectations. Former Ghana No. 1 Reginald Okantey faced current No. 1 Johnson Acquah in a marquee men’s final that symbolised a generational clash in Ghanaian tennis. On the women’s side, the final featured the top two U21-ranked players, offering a promising glimpse into the future of the sport.

Sisu Tomegah crowned a remarkable run with a commanding 6–2, 6–4 victory over Tracy Ampah, displaying consistency and composure on the biggest stage. Johnson Acquah sealed his championship in emphatic fashion, defeating Okantey 6–2, 7–5 to reaffirm his status as Ghana’s top-ranked player.
