Tennis Foundation Ghana Open ITF J60 Accra Week 6 season concluded the same way it began, with Great Britain’s Alisha Ndukwu and Prosper Ikenna Okonkwo as champions of the girls and boys tournament respectively.
Alisha Ndukwu captured her second singles title of the year after putting on a scintillating performance to hold off Tunisia’s Lamiss Housa in two straight sets 6-3, 6-2 in the final at the National tennis center, Accra Sports Stadium.
“I would say that I am really playing great tennis, " Alisha said, “and with every match I play, I feel better and better and hopefully in Senegal, I can keep building the level and reach my highest level of play.”
In the boy’s singles final, No.1 seed Daniel Adeleye lost to Prosper Ikenna Okonkwo for the second time in an all Nigerian affair. Prosper continued his dominant performance in Ghana with a 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-3 victory over No.1 seed Daniel Adeleye.
“This is the third time we're meeting in Ghana. I am happy to beat my fellow countrymen twice in Ghana, am getting better as the days go by, I’m going to prepare myself for other ITF tournaments outside Nigeria.’
In the girl’s doubles, Lamiss Houas and her partner from ITF Centre in Tunisia Sasha Natalie Chimedze from Zimbabwe won the girls doubles title after defeating Great Britain duo Alisha Ndukwu and Grace Chiwinke 6-2, 6-2.
Boy’s singles winner, Prosper Okonkwo partnered Joseph Franklin Jimoh to win the boys doubles title, beating Belgium duo Jules Dannevoye and Louis Mouffe 6-3, 6-1.
