As we enter the final stages of the maiden edition of the Fine Water Open, we have two blockbuster semi-finals to look forward to in the men’s singles, with home favorite Nana Poku eyeing up his first title in this competition.
We preview both semi-final matches below.
Nana Poku vs. Nicholson Nartey:
We really do have the cream of the crop in these two semi-finals matches to decide who will go into this Fine Water Open finals.
Arguably the most highly anticipated match of all the semi-finals is that of home favorite Nana Poku and Nicholson Nartey. The pair will meet for the first time but Nana Poku stands a chance of getting into the finals after beating Ghana tennis Federation board member Frederick Okpoti Konney 6-1, 6-1.
However, Nicholson Marty got into the semifinals after his opponent David Carreras retired 3-6, 1-5(R). The betting certainly favors Nana Poku, with Nicholson Nartey not written off.
The match will be huge, and will be a physical and mental battle as these two players are more than capable of pulling something special out of the bag.
Stanley Nyarko vs. Elvis Tetteh
This semi-final is another interesting one. The fantastic display earned Stanley Nyarko (Adabraka No.1) his place in the semifinal after beating Lawyer Richard Odum Mensah 6-2, 6-1 in an all Ghana Tennis Club affair.
Elvis Tetteh had a walkover in his quarter-finals after his opponent Prince Tetteh didn’t show up.
Ahead of the clash, Stanley Nyarko does have the edge over Elvis Tetteh but if Elvis finds his rhythm like what he did in the second round, then it could be an interesting match.
