Fine Water Open Men's Round of 16 Wrap Up

The Fine Water Open continued on Sunday with a lot of action. Here's how they all fared:

Nana Poku but managed after a hard fight to secure a win and cruise into the quarter finals. The home favorite won 9-6 against deputy captain of Premier Tennis Club Bernard Nii Bortey. Nana Poku will face Ghana tennis Federation Board Member who also doubles as a member of Army Officers Tennis club member, Frederick Okpoti Konney on Saturday.

Earlier on Frederick Okpoti Konney beat his fellow board member Derrick Odoom 9-5 to advance into the quarter finals.

Former chairman of Accra Lawn Tennis club George Mills put in a gallant effort pushing Prince Tetteh all the way on the Centre Court. At 7 games all, Prince varied his game to win with 9-7.

Accra Lawn Tennis Club’s David Carreras showcased some brilliant tennis and gave his club hope bringing the ultimate trophy home after beating Alex K. Mensah 9-4. Stanley Nyarko well known as Adabraka No.1 sails into the quarter finals after beating McCarthy Tennis club and Police Depot’s William Amoo (Boboo) 9-5.

GTF board member Henry Boni who is also a board member of Ghana tennis club’s dream of reaching the last two ended too early as he was stopped in  round 16 by tactical opponent Nicholas Nartey as he outplayed Boni to win 9-3.Elvis Tetteh went through into the quarter finals after ousting Kwasi K. Ofori-Atta 9-7.  Home favorite Richard O. Mensah gets into the quarter finals with a 9-5 win over Bernard Alidu.
