The visit comes just a day after Rob and Dea made a donation to the Tennis Foundation Ghana Academy in Accra at the Accra Sports Stadium while sharing some valuable experience and advice, extending their support to the Foundation’s programmes outside the capital.
The visit to Ghana was facilitated by TFG President Roger Crawford, who helped make the engagement possible and continues to support the foundation's efforts to create opportunities for young players across the country.
Rob Pulver, a former tennis coach who now works with the United Nations, brings a unique perspective to the visit. His background in coaching has kept him closely connected to the sport.
On Tuesday, August 4, Rob and Dea Pulver also made a donation of tennis equipment to the Ntranoa community, providing much-needed support for the local programme and its young players.
The visit also provided an opportunity to strengthen ties with tennis stakeholders in the Central Region, with GTF Board Member Fred Okpoti facilitating meetings with the Central Regional Tennis Association.
For the children involved in the Ntranoa programme, however, the visit is about more than equipment. It is an opportunity to interact with someone who has spent years working on the tennis court and who now operates on an international stage.
That connection will continue in Cape Coast, where Rob is set to lead a two-day tennis clinic with TFG kids from Ntranoa. The clinic will combine tennis instruction with mentorship, giving the young athletes an opportunity to learn from his experience as a coach and to gain valuable exposure beyond their local training environment.
The Ntranoa programme is one of several Tennis Foundation Ghana satellite programmes established to expand access to tennis and identify young talent across the country. For many of the players, opportunities to train with experienced coaches and receive support from international partners can have a lasting impact on their development.
Coach Hayford and the Central Regional Tennis Association continue to play an important role in supporting the programme and creating opportunities for young players in the region.
Rob and Dea’s visit, therefore, represents a continuation of the support they began in Accra, taking their engagement directly into one of several communities where TFG is working to develop the next generation of Ghanaian tennis players.
