Fennis completed an impressive run to the title with a straight-sets victory over Chapepa, maintaining her composure and intensity throughout the championship match.
Before reaching the final, Fennis had already overcome Chapepa's sister, Kudzai Erin Patience Chapepa in the earlier stages of the competition, defeating the Zimbabwean 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets.
The Dutch player carried that momentum into the final, where she again proved too strong for Chapepa, winning both sets 6-3 to secure the J60 Accra girls’ singles crown.
Chapepa, who is also listed as Kuzivaishe Chapepa, had produced a strong run to reach the championship match but was unable to overturn Fennis’ control of the contest.
Fennis’ victory marks another international success at the J60 Accra tournament, which has brought together promising junior players from Ghana, Africa and beyond.
The J60 Accra event is part of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, providing young players with an opportunity to compete internationally, earn ranking points and gain valuable experience on the pathway towards professional tennis.
The tournament is hosted by Tennis Foundation Ghana (TFG) under the Ghana Tennis Federation, with the event sanctioned by the international governing body for tennis.
The competition has featured several promising performances from both African and international players, highlighting Accra’s growing role as a venue for international junior tennis.
With the girls’ singles final concluded, attention now turns to the remaining finals and the closing stages of the J60 Accra tournament.
