Lameck Bagerbaseh and Tracy Ampah are crowned Ga Mantse Champions

The inaugural Ga Mantse Tennis Open reached a thrilling climax at the Accra Sports Stadium courts as Lameck Bagerbaseh and Tracy Ampah emerged victorious in their respective Men's and Women's Singles finals. Organized under the auspices of His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and the Ga Traditional Council in partnership with Genet Services, the week-long championship successfully combined grass-roots athletic excellence with rich cultural heritage in celebration of the Homowo Festival. Supported by high-profile tournament ambassadors Stephen Appiah and Asamoah Gyan, the marquee event delivered world-class competitive drama to the capital's sports enthusiasts.

The Men’s Singles final brought down the curtain on a grueling bracket where Lameck Bagerbaseh showcased top-tier composure against Raphael Dowuona to seal a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 victory. Bagerbaseh’s path to the trophy capped off a dominant campaign during which he previously dispatched Seth Asenso, Pascal Alome Ziyab, and Johnson Acquah. Meanwhile, Dowuona earned his spot in the final through an impressive tournament run that featured decisive wins against Prince Yeboah, Emmanuel Antwi, and Kingsley Alormenu, alongside a high-stakes victory over Samuel Nyamekye—who had earlier eliminated Ronald Totimeh, Eugene Adams, and Benjamin Fumi. In the final, both players held their ground in tense baseline rallies, but Bagerbaseh capitalized on critical break points late in each set to claim the inaugural men's crown.

The Women’s Singles championship match delivered an equally gripping spectacle as Tracy Ampah battled back to outlast Precious Nunana Okoh in a three-set thriller, securing the title 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Okoh, who gained momentum in the earlier rounds with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 victory over Whitney Orimoloye, pushed Ampah to her absolute limits before the latter found her groove in the deciding set. The women's draw featured remarkable talent throughout the week, with top seed Georgette Nortey leading a deep lineup that saw notable performances from Helen Adjei, Sakina Adams, and Barbara Tackie.

With both champions crowned, the successful conclusion of the tournament marks a historic milestone for Ghanaian tennis, cementing the Ga Mantse Tennis Open as a standout addition to the nation's sporting calendar.
